Cracked heels

Cracked heels are not only a cosmetic defect, but also a dangerous ailment. The skin can crack for various reasons: tight shoes, consuming little water, rough (made of artificial material) socks, hormonal problems in women, obesity, frequent and excessive skin removal, improper care or hygiene.

Improperly treated, poorly cared for skin of the heels becomes horny, it is inflexible, which leads to the appearance of undesirable cracks and fissures. Open wounds on the feet are very dangerous because bacteria, viruses and even fungi enter the body through the damaged skin, making it easy to get infected. A podiatrist, by properly removing excess keratinized epidermis and applying a dressing with a therapeutic agent, can protect the heels from these effects. A well-chosen home treatment is also very important.
