Treatment of brussism

Brussism is a disease caused by excessive, independent of our will activity of the masseter muscles. In people suffering from bruxism, changes occur in the jaw and mandible, causing soreness in the area of ​​the temporomandibular joint or abrasion of the teeth. A characteristic symptom is the so-called teeth grinding.

In most cases, the injection of botulinum toxin is an effective method that freezes the muscle for about 6 months. The first effects of using botox are usually visible only after 2-3 days. The main effect of the treatment is the reduction of symptoms such as morning headache and neck muscle tension, as well as a decrease in the frequency of teeth clenching. In addition, there is an aesthetic aspect – face slimming. Usually, you should wait about two weeks for the full result.

Contraindications to the procedure:

• pregnancy and breastfeeding,
• allergy to botulinum toxin type A,
• neuromuscular diseases,
• taking aminoglycoside antibiotics,
• inflammation in the area where the procedure is to be performed,
• chronic autoimmune diseases,
• local skin infections.
